I walked away from Twitter/X years ago, but John Gruber raises a fair point that suggests I may have been wrong to.
If the people you meet are kind, interesting and polite, a place may be worth staying in even if it’s ugly.
Still, algorithmic opacity is alive and kicking, so going back would mean accepting the work of reading, filtering, selecting and distilling.
I’m at a point in my life where, not by choice, I’ve got a bit more freedom in how I spend my time. So I’ve decided to start writing again and try to develop that idea that’s been buzzing around in my head for a while now, even if it’s just to figure out whether it actually works or not. I’ve reinstalled Scrivener, which I used a lot in the past but have always had a bit of an on-and-off relationship with. We’ll see how it goes.
